Mid-Michigan Recreational Community Commits $ 2.6 Million To Enhancement Projects

Gladwin, MI - November 16, 2010 - Sugar Springs Property Owners Association is a four-season recreational community located in rural Gladwin County. Currently there are some 1,450 homes and cottages, along with 300 seasonal camping lots, nestled among two all-sport lakes, a championship golf course, public airstrip, and campground.
The focal point of the community’s social life is a building which houses a restaurant and an Olympic-size swimming pool, both open to the public. Since the building is almost forty years old, the Sugar Springs Property Owners Association membership has recently voted to update and enhance the facility.
It’s estimated that the renovations will cost $ 2.6 million. Work will be performed in two phases, starting in March of 2011. First, a new pool will be constructed in a new building attached to the existing structure. The old pool area will then be transformed into a 4,800 square-foot activity center along with a 1,000 square-foot fitness room. The entire building exterior will also receive a facelift.
Phase 2 plans include the enlargement and modernization of the restaurant and bar/lounge areas.
FED Corporation of Gladwin, MI has been named construction manager for this project.
Sugar Springs was established in 1972 and has grown into the premier recreational community in mid-Michigan. The Association has close to 2,900 members, covers 6 1/2 square miles, with two all-sport lakes of 1,000 acres, and is located approximately 12 miles north of Gladwin, MI. It is serviced by 32 miles of paved roadways and a sanitary sewer system.
Members choose between full time living, part-time cottages and retreats or can purchase a lot and camp on it each season.
With the two all-sport lakes, a full slate of member activities, tennis courts, over 40 acre area with hiking trails, and 18 hole championship golf course, Sugar Springs has something to offer everyone.
